Step 0: Your inbox as a subcontractor

On a typical project, you receive and handle many tasks from the construction manager. As a subcontractor, it is your responsibility to respond to these tasks quickly and keep work moving.

Tasks are usually related to quality issues, RFIs, or defects, and follow clear workflows that define who creates the task and who needs to respond.

Your inbox

Your inbox serves as the central hub for managing tasks within Dalux Field.

Every task related update lands here, whether it is a new task assigned to you or your team, or a response to a task you are part of.

When tasks are waiting for your attention, a red number appears next to Home as a visual prompt.

In this example, you have 28 open tasks in your inbox, as indicated by the number next to Home and your inbox.

The inbox gives you a consolidated view of everything that needs to be reviewed, answered, or followed up, so you can act quickly and stay in step with what is happening on the project.

Task status

Every task carries a status that reflects where it currently stands in the workflow relative to you, making it easy to see at a glance what needs action and what is already done.
Tasks are automatically sorted into folders based on their status.

For example:

  • New: Tasks that need your attention, found in your inbox
  • Ongoing: Tasks you are involved in where someone else is currently responsible for the next step
  • Awaiting approval: Tasks you have responded to and that are now awaiting approval from the creator
  • Closed: Tasks you were part of that have been completed and resolved

Each folder is organized by status and displays the number of tasks it contains.

Filtering your tasks

As a subcontractor, you will likely be dealing with a high volume of tasks at any given time. Filters help you cut through the noise and focus on what matters most.

You can use them to zero in on tasks assigned directly to you, narrow down to specific categories such as RFIs or Defects, or reduce clutter so your most pressing items stay front and center.

Filters can be applied across all folders; however, saving filters is only available in the desktop browser and within the 'All tasks' folder.

Best practice

  • Begin each day by checking your inbox to get a clear picture of what requires your attention
  • Make regular use of filters to stay focused on open or relevant tasks
  • Checking in on task updates frequently will help you remain aligned with the pace and progress of the project
