Dalux TwinBIM is the augmented reality feature in Dalux. With TwinBIM, a model can be shown as an overlay on the real on-site location. For this feature, a 3D model is required. All you need to use TwinBIM is a mobile device.

How to set up TwinBIM
User rights
Anyone on the project can access TwinBIM since it is part of the Locations module. There is no setup in Dalux for TwinBIM, as the feature is always activated.
Technical information
TwinBIM works for any IFC, or support BIM software model uploaded to the project. However, the model must have defined rooms and TwinBIM only works for one room at a time.
How to use TwinBim
To start using TwinBIM you have to be on-site, and in the room you wish to view the model overlayed with.
Then open Dalux Mobile. Now find the same location on a drawing or in 3D. Do so by going to Locations in the bottom menu. Then find the correct building and floor where applicable. The building is selected at the top of the screen, and the floors are selected at the bottom.
When in the correct place physically and in the 3D model, open TwinBIM, by pressing the -icon in the bottom left corner of your screen.
When TwinBIM has been opened, the model and the environment need to be aligned.
Step 1: Define the floor
Hold the device at a normal or slightly elevated height. Now point the camera towards the floor.
Once the floor is defined move the device towards the floor to make sure that the floor is aligned correctly to the surface.
Step 2: Align the model to the environment
Next, the model needs to be aligned. Use one finger to move the room or two fingers to turn and rotate the model. It is recommended to use walls or columns to align the model correctly.
Step 3: Start using TwinBim
When the model and the environment are aligned, press on the checkmark at the bottom. The model will load in and be displayed as an overlay over the environment.
If needed, the alignment can be redone by pressing the -icon in the lower right corner.
When TwinBIM is active, the same functions as viewing the 3D model on its own are available. Objects can be pressed, and more information can be shown. It is also possible to create new registrations.
Objects can be hidden, and the transparency of the model can be adjusted.
