Step 1: Send quality issue to subcontractors

When you identify an issue on site, it should be documented clearly and sent to the responsible subcontractor for correction. Quality issues are used to turn on-site observations into structured tasks, ensuring problems are clearly understood, assigned, and resolved.

What is a quality issue

A quality issue is a structured way to report something that is incorrect and needs to be fixed. It is not just a note or observation.

It is an actionable task with a clear purpose: to get something corrected.

Typical examples include:

  • Damaged materials
  • Incorrect installation
  • Missing or incomplete work

By turning observations into structured tasks, you ensure that nothing is overlooked and that responsibility is clearly assigned.

Creating and sending quality issues on site

Quality issues are primarily created directly on site using the Dalux mobile app. This allows you to document and assign problems immediately, while standing in front of them.

A typical workflow looks like this:

  1. Select the correct location and create a registration
  2. Select 'Quality issue' from the list
  3. Go through the task from top to bottom:
    • Add photos
    • Assign the responsible contractor
    • Add a subject, deadline, and description
  4. Send the task by clicking on the send icon

Once the quality issue is sent, it is located in your 'Ongoing' folder:

How contractors receive and work with quality issues

Once a quality issue is submitted, the assigned contractor receives a notification and can immediately access the description, location, and attached images, allowing them to respond, update the task status, and confirm completion.

The image shows the task from the subcontractor’s perspective. It is structured with the location displayed at the top, followed by the subject and description in the middle, and any attached photos at the end.

Best practice

The outcome of a quality issue depend on how well the information is documented.

  • Subject: Write a short and precise subject line, using relevant abbreviations or codes where appropriate.
  • Description: Be clear and specific. Avoid vague wording and describe exactly what is wrong.
  • Images: Take multiple photos with varying zoom; include surrounding elements to provide context and reference.
  • Location: Pinpoint the issue on drawings or models whenever possible. This eliminates confusion about where the problem is.
