How to export data from Box

Files from Box and data from the different features can be exported in formats like PDF reports and Excel tables. This way you can easily share data with internal and external work partners or save it on your computer if needed.

Download and export files

You can export files from the different file areas of Box. When downloading files from Box only the newest version will be downloaded.

All files should be downloaded from Dalux Box before ending your project. Files can be downloaded from the project manually or by using Dalux Sync (recommended).

To download the files directly from Dalux desktop:

Box All files or a subfolder Select the files More Download.

You can keep the folder structure and download an Excel sheet with metadata. Up to 100 files can be selected at a time.

We recommend downloading and using Dalux Sync, as it will allow you to download all the files from your PC in one go. For more information about Dalux Sync, please read this article: Synchronize files between Dalux Box and your PC with Dalux Sync.

Export file metadata

You can export the metadata from all the files by going to:

Box All files or a subfolder  More Export.

The current visible columns and the values will be exported to an Excel sheet.

The full list of files will always be exported. It is not possible to export metadata from individual files.

Export previous versions of files

If you want to download a previous version of a file in Dalux, you need to open the file a click

Versions Then locate the previous versionDownload.

Export comments

To export comments go to:

Box Comments All comments or a subfolderMore Export.

You can select which comments to export, or export all comments at once. When exporting you have the following options:

• Table (Excel) - Exports a metadata spreadsheet with all shown columns in the list view
• Single report - Exports a PDF report of each selected comment

You can export a table and single reports at the same time.

• BCF 2.1 - One or more comments can be exported as BCF. Only comments with a 3D location will be exported as BCF.

You cannot export a table or single reports at the same time as BCF.

Export version sets metadata

The metadata from version sets can be exported as a spreadsheet. 

Box Version setsSelect a version set  More Export.

The current visible columns and the values will be exported to an Excel sheet.

Files can be downloaded from the version set and will be handled the same way as when files are downloaded from one of the file areas (see above)

Export distribution lists metadata

The metadata from distribution lists can be exported as a spreadsheet. 

Box Distribute listsSelect a distribution list  More Export.

The currently visible columns and the values will be exported to an Excel sheet.

Files can be downloaded from the distribution list and will be handled the same way as when files are downloaded from one of the file areas (see above)

Export submittals metadata

The metadata from submittals can be exported as a spreadsheet. 

Box SubmittalsAll submittals or select a package  More Export.

The currently visible columns and the values will be exported to an Excel sheet.

Export emails

If you are using the mail archive feature, you can download the original emails. You can only download one email at a time from Dalux. Go to:
