Use Distribution lists for printing

Distribution lists can be printed in Dalux allowing you to send a list of drawings to internal/external printing services. When using the printing option, you can also keep track of which drawings have been updated since the last printing job. It is also possible to add QR codes to the printed drawings.

First, you need to activate distribution lists and print.

To activate it, go to Settings Box Distribution lists Activate the distribution lists and the print option:

When activating distribution lists, you need to enter the e-mail address of the print supplier and can also add a standard text (included in all future print orders).

You can add your email here, but all print requests of the distribution lists will be sent to the entered email.

In Box, you can now create one or multiple distribution lists and add files to them. If you have file areas activated, you can create distribution lists for each specific area:

Use distribution lists for printing

To set up distribution lists for printing, you need to have created one or more lists for this purpose.

Note

Not all distribution lists need to be print lists - some lists are used for distributing a set of files directly to the project stakeholders.

To activate print for a specific list, go to

Box Distribution lists More Print settings 'Activate print' 'Save'

To print the files from the distribution list you can:

  • Print all files/updated files by selecting the distribution list and clicking Send to print
  • Choose specific files you want to print, by selecting the files and clicking Send to print

From the pop-up window, you can then choose to print updated files, selected files, or all files.

Tips and Tricks

If you click to the right of a drawing, you can see a preview of the print with the chosen settings.

In the 'Send to print' window, you have the following options:

  • Select a company or construction site address (receiver of the print order)
  • Add an additional note to the print order
  • Select printing options (copies, color, folded or not, format, and comments)
  • If you do not have multiple file areas activated, you can manually add a QR code with the Print with QR code toggle at the bottom

Note

QR codes can only be printed in distribution lists if only one file area is activated. When Published files are enabled, drawings are automatically stamped after authorization, eliminating the need to manually add QR codes.

To find out more about Stamps, you can read this article: How to use Stamps

The print supplier will receive an e-mail with a link that lets them download all drawings and an Excel sheet with the print details:

Updated files in printed distribution lists

Since the distribution lists will always include the latest version of the linked files, this will also give you the option to track, if the printed files are still up to date.

When printing is activated on a distribution list you will see a counter next to the distribution list. In the example below, 1 out of 4 drawings have been updated, since the last print order or have not been printed yet.

When sending to print, you will also be able to select all of the files, the selected files, or just the updated files. Dalux will show which file is updated, since the last print request.
