Uploading files to Dalux Box is an important step in sharing information with your project. Files automatically get to the people who need them. Instead of spreading project data across different platforms, everything related to the project is stored in one place.
Upload your files by going to Box
Files and choosing the folder you want to upload your file to.
User rights
You can only upload files to folders to which you have upload permissions. If your permissions are not sufficient, reach out to your project administrator.
Click Upload and choose one or multiple files from your PC, then confirm with 'Open'.
An upload window will appear. Fill out metadata and check your files before uploading.
- Discard: Remove the file from the upload.
-
Warning/Error: If your project uses file naming templates and your file names do not match, this will be highlighted. A 'Warning' label still lets you upload the file, but metadata is not filled out automatically. An 'Error' label blocks the file from upload. Change the file name to match the template and try again.
If enabled, entering metadata will rename your file according to the naming template. - New/Edited: A 'New' label indicates that a new file will be created in Dalux. An 'Edited' label means a new version will be uploaded to an existing file. Read more about updating files here: Update drawing and document versions.
-
File type: Most files are categorized automatically into the following categories:
- Model
- Drawing
- Document
File types that can fall into multiple categories can be specified manually. For example, DWG files that can be drawings or models, or PDF files that can be drawings or documents.
- Version: If an existing file is updated, this shows the new version number.
-
Custom metadata: These are set up specifically for your project, fill them out to make it easier to find these files later.
- Number: This is the drawing or document number and is used to create hyperlinks from other drawings or documents. Read more about this here: Hyperlinks on PDF drawings and in documents.
-
Title: This field is filled in automatically with the file name. The drawing title sets the name shown in
Locations, so it is recommended to pick a title that is easy to recognize.
- Add files: Add more files from your PC to this upload.
- Message: Add a note for the project administrator or project planning manager, visible only in the 'Upload log'. Other participants cannot see it.
When you are ready, click 'Upload' to complete the process. Your files will then be processed.
Metadata fields marked with a red asterisk are mandatory. Files with empty mandatory fields cannot be uploaded.
If you upload a new version of a previously uploaded file, metadata is filled out automatically based on the previous version's metadata.
