Use Dalux mobile app in offline mode

When working on-site, construction workers often encounter situations with limited connection, restricting any internet-dependent activity. This is regularly the case in basements, when performing work underground, or in remote locations with bad coverage.

Prepare Dalux for offline mode before work to prevent unexpected data loss.

If you do not prepare your Dalux project for offline use, low connection can prevent you from accessing it via the mobile app.

Download data for offline mode

Download data temporarily by opening your Dalux mobile app and going to:

 MoreDownload for offline.

Your selection of task folders, filters, checklists, inspection plans, and test plans gets saved in your app. Once set up, you can click Download now to update your offline preparation with the newest information.

WARNING

After selecting which folders you want to download, click Download now. The Prepare for offline button does not download data yet. The overview shows which information is available offline and which information is not yet downloaded.

In this example, the 'Inbox' folder has been downloaded for offline use. The 'Ongoing' and 'Closed' folders, however, have not yet been downloaded or have been updated since the last download.

Tasks

Select which folders you want to have available in offline mode. We recommend downloading at least your 'Inbox' to keep tasks assigned to you available.

Open the folder you want to have available offline and select Prepare for offline. You can filter the data in each folder to download only what is relevant to you.

Checklists

Select which checklists should be available to you offline. You can choose from all checklists you have access to. Click on the relevant checklist types and either download them all or apply a filter to only download a subset.

This is especially useful to follow up on inspections or if you need to approve a hold point in a hold point checklist.

Inspection plans and Test plans

As with checklists, you can download any test plans and inspection plans you have access to. Select all inspection points that are relevant to you.

Click on the relevant inspection points and either download them all or apply a filter to only download a subset.

Buildings

Go to 'Change selection' to choose the buildings for which you want to download drawings. Downloading drawings is recommended, since you place registrations on a drawing and can see existing registrations in context.

Select 'Offline 3D' to also download model files for buildings that contain 3D models.

Settings

In Field Pro projects, you can also choose to download translations. These are automatic translations of task titles and descriptions, supporting your work in multilingual project settings.

Your language has to be set to the language you want to translate to, before downloading data.

What happens to new registrations and messages

When you have prepared offline data, you can go on your construction site and work as usual.

Create your tasks, checklists, and inspections and send them as you would normally.

While you do not have an internet connection, all registrations you create are in the 'Outbox folder.

The 'Outbox' folder

You can find the 'Outbox' folder in the More menu. It collects all registrations and messages you created while working offline and sends them as soon as you have a stable internet connection again. You do not need to take any action. This happens automatically.

Once the app has sent all registrations, the 'Outbox' folder disappears. This confirms that the app sent everything successfully.

Delete data from mobile device

Save space on your mobile device by regularly clearing out the data you downloaded. The app removes tasks and checklists that have been closed for a while, including any photos or files saved in the cache.

You can find this option under Download for offline'Clear offline data'.

Make sure to always download at least the 'Inbox' folder afterwards, to be able to create new registrations offline again. This prevents you from being in an unexpected low-connection area without the option to create new registrations.
