In this article, we will explain what map layers are and guide you through the process of adding custom layers to the Locations module in Dalux InfraField.
Map layers serve as the background images in Locations, providing a visual reference of the area and its surroundings.

Custom map layer
Tips and tricks
When a user creates a task or registration, the map layer visible at the time of creation will also be displayed in the task.
Dalux InfraField includes default map layers, but you can also add custom layers to tailor the view to your project’s specific needs, ensuring that all users see the most relevant information when creating or managing tasks.
The 'Standard' and 'Satellite' map layers are always available. For new users, the 'Standard' layer is set as the default unless a custom layer is chosen instead, see below for more details.
User rights
To create and edit custom map layers, you must have the project administrator role or be part of a custom user group with permission to view and edit areas, buildings, and locations.
To add a new map layer, go to:

Add
Map layer:
A new window will appear, where you must type in a name and link for the map layer.
The link must come from a public platform that supports WMTS or WMS formats, such as https://www.mapbox.com/, and must be publicly accessible without requiring login credentials.
Checking the 'Set as default map' box will make this the default map view for all users in Locations. Users can still switch to a different map layer, but the default view will be shown when they open the Locations module.
Each custom map layer is shown below the standard ones and can be edited and removed by clicking the icon.
