This article will show you how to set up the Stamps feature in Box Pro.
The Stamps feature makes it easy to add stamps to your drawings when you publish them. The stamp adds details about the authorizer, authorization date, and status of the drawing. You can also make any last-minute markups which are added to the published drawing.
Stamps can be added to drawings when a file is manually authorized or if the drawing is authorized as part of a file flow.
How to set up Stamps
User rights
Activation and setup for Stamps need to be done by a project administrator or project planning manager. Users with permissions to authorize drawings to published files (such as project planning managers, via their user group, or as part of their file flow role) can place the stamp on a drawing.
Activate Stamps
To activate Stamps, go to Settings
Box
'Stamps'
'Activate'.
Technical information
To use Stamps for publishing files, the 'Published files' area must be activated. You can read more about file areas in this article: File areas. If it's not active, drawings can still be printed with a QR code, which can be scanned to verify if the drawing is the latest version.
Stamps cannot currently be added to drawings uploaded through plugins, but these drawings can still be printed manually with QR codes.
Already published files need to republished to add or change stamps and markups.
Stamp configuration
After stamps have been activated, you can customize them, including their placement and metadata.
To configure your stamps, go to: Settings
Box
'Stamps'
'Stamp configuration'.
In the configuration, you can adjust the placement and margin, which determines where on the drawing the stamp will be placed. Margin is calculated from the selected corner of the drawing and inward, measured to the closest corner of the stamp and metadata.
The QR code's height controls the stamp size on the drawing (including metadata), with a fixed height-to-width ratio for precise placement. Very long names or statuses might be cut off.
Note
The stamp can be manually moved when a single drawing is under authorization, to make sure it does not cover any drawing information.
You can toggle Show metadata on and off. Metadata will be shown next to the QR code.
- Name of authorizer - Name of the person who authorized the file either manually or approving the file in the last step of a file flow
- Authorization date - Time and date the drawing was authorized. The time stamp will reflect when the 'Authorize to published files' button was clicked
- Status of file - The selected file status at authorization. Will only be shown if the project has activated Status setup. You can read more in this article: Status metadata for files
We recommend creating a specific spot for the stamp either around or inside the title block of your drawings. This will help maintain a consistent placement and make it easier for viewers to find the stamp.
