Revisions of documents and drawings are common in construction. This article covers how to compare two versions of the same PDF document, drawing, or model directly in Dalux.
Compare two versions of a PDF document
If you have multiple versions of a PDF document in Box, you can compare these files directly in Dalux to detect any changes.
Open any document in Box that fulfills these criteria and click on Compare versions. Doing so will open the current and the previous version of that document.
You can change the versions you want to compare, by clicking on the selector at the top of the of the documents.
Scrolling through a multi-page document or zooming into the document is done simultaneously for both versions, so you can always compare the correct information.
If you want to compare different parts in the versions, toggle the lock at the bottom to unsynchronize both versions. You can then navigate through the versions independently. Toggle the lock again to synchronize the versions again.
Compare two versions of a drawing
If the project has Dalux Box Pro, it is possible to compare two versions of the same drawing directly in Dalux. To do so, open a drawing with more than one uploaded version.
Then click Compare versions.
Dalux will by default open the latest two versions and compare them. The newest version is green, and the previous one is orange.
Change the version by clicking on the drop-down button next to each version.
Changes between the versions can then be easily seen, with the addition of orange or green lines. The colors represent the selected versions of the drawing. If there are no changes between versions, there is no change of color.
Align drawings
If the drawings are not aligned, this is usually because they were created with different PDF settings.
You can manually align them, the alignment is not saved on the drawing and must be realigned the next time you compare the drawings.
Click on Align drawings
'Select a point on the earlier version'
'Select the same point on the newer version'
