Alignments are an essential part of linear infrastructure projects, such as railways or roads.
In Dalux, they can be used to add stationing, create aligned zone sections, calculate quantities, and much more.
Alignments can be uploaded as a LandXML file or as part of an IFC file.

Upload alignment files
To add a new alignment file to Locations, go to:
Settings
Locations
Map
Add
Alignment.
Select a file from a folder in Dalux Box or choose to upload an alignment file from your computer.
Alignments can also be added from IFC files that have been added to areas, if they carry alignment data. These IFC files will be shown together with files from Dalux Box, making it easy to select all relevant files at once.
If alignment files or IFC files have multiple alignments, they can all be imported at once.
Station increments: Based on the alignment's geometry, you can add increments for annotating the alignment on the map and in the 3D view. This improves navigation and lets you create cross sections more easily.
Enter the desired increments as a number (minimum 5), and Dalux creates these increments in meters.
Activate: Check this box to activate these alignments and make them visible in Locations.
The files are displayed in the Map settings, and each alignment from the file is shown below.
Use the icon to
Edit,
Download, or
Delete the file.
After you have successfully uploaded alignments to your Locations, they are available to users for navigating and creating cross-sections, and you can use them to create zones or calculate Quantities.
